Duties:
The Surveillance Detection (SD) Monitor plays a critical role in ensuring the security of U.S. personnel and facilities. As part of a tactical SD team, SD Monitors conduct surveillance detection operations. Their primary responsibilities include:
Observing, recognizing, and reporting potential surveillance and suspicious incidents aimed at U.S. Government facilities and personnel.
Initiating emergency responses when necessary to protect life and property.
Reporting to and working under the supervision of the SD Coordinator.
Qualifications and Evaluations:
Requirements:
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in military, police, or private security is required.
Job Knowledge: Knowledge of surveillance techniques, familiarity with local pedestrian and vehicular traffic patterns, and understanding of cultural norms and customs are necessary. Familiarity with the host city’s geography and general culture is required.
Education Requirements:
Successful completion of high school or its local equivalent is mandatory.
Evaluations:
Language: Limited proficiency in English and French (speaking/reading/writing) is a requirement and may be tested.
Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in using communications equipment, cameras, and basic information technology systems is essential. The ability to provide detailed oral reports, work independently, and adapt to various threat and environmental conditions is crucial. Strong observation skills are also required and may be tested.

Benefits:
Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs) working at the U.S. Mission in Yaounde, Cameroon, may receive a compensation package that includes health, separation, and other benefits. EFMs should discuss their benefits with the Human Resources Office. The pay plan is determined at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
